Sorry, AJP Cam Chain Tension Again
Discussion
Sorry guys, need to dip into your knowledge again.
Having now read the manual...'tension the chain so that the tensioner arm can just be lifted from the pin with 12" screwdriver'.
I can, without much effort, move the tensioner arm about 3mm with my 9" screwdriver. This is with the tensioner bolt (24mm head) through the side of the block screwed right in against the case (there is a copper washer between head and block). This is where it was before I took it apart. Does this sound wrong?...
Is there any adjustment other than the bolt that screws into the block - I have assumed this is how to set the adjustment since the manual is not that clear?
If I do remove the bolt through the case in order to dispense with the copper washer to gain another small amount of adjustment (put back with sealant instead) do I need to be concerned with a) part of the tensioner assembly falling to bottom of the timing chain cover b) the tensioner pin falling out of the bolt to the bottom of timing chain cover.
I am guessing I am possibly into a replacement cam chain at some point soon (which will prob end up in an engine rebuild). Engine has done 68K by the way.
Any thoughts very welcome!!
Matt
