manifold gaskets
Discussion
Well one was blowing - i hadn't fitted it correctly... so gets my dad to swop all for new thicker type while i bought some petrol.
Come back and all swopped over... start the car and... a different one is blowing... grrrrr
can feel the draft and see its not flat... maybe the nuts weren't tightened up in a correct sequence?? I'll sort tomorrow anyway.
Picked up a spare engine today from ebay. £100 with land rover Gearbox and adaptor plate. removed as running.
When i got to it its got new Sparkies, oil filter, oil, rubbers fuel lines, spare carb, starter, alternator and cast manifolds. oh and a new fuel pump too. (Im hoping its new as been looked after and not new as in tried to get going and failed)
The landy currently stands with a tdi engine in for fun days.
Even painted in red (as my Tvr!!)
and worse case its a complete strip and rebuild (which is most likely gonna happen anyway)
All in all a good day really
