So... I have spent all day cleaning the E60 which involved the usual carpets and overmats getting aquatinted with my old friend Henry. This is first time I have cleaned the inside as I have only owned the car a short while. Anyway I noticed the drivers mat was a bit stuck around the throttle pedal, thought nothing of it. Hoovered up, polished and dressed all the leather, plastics blah blah. Due to the fact that I have spent most of the day outside away from her indoors cleaning cars, I offered to buy SWMBO a nice bottle of sancerre. Jumps in the nice clean e60 with the properly adjusted mat and OH my god. Its a different car. All that time (890 miles) with the mat restricting the throttle pedal.

I have always had myself down as quite a smart cookie. Having to reconsider...loser

Ha!!!! I'm not the only clutz then. Did something similar in my old Fiat 20VT, that cost me a new clutch. The pedal caught on the heavy rubber mat I had at the time, going from 2nd to 3rd at full chunt. Engine screemed to the limiter, then the pedal released and spun the fromt wheels at 60mph. Thought I'd got away with it. Driving to work the next day the clutch spring snapped. I ditched that particalar mat in the skip.

Comforting story mate.;) I am not alone. The stickler for me is these mats are BMW mats. It really caught me out because I gave it the beans (the full beans now) on a greasy road thinking I would be OK! eek
