The phone hands free on my TDV8 RR is utterly useless.

The voice prompt is an American woman and she doesn't understand a bloody word I say. Even if I speak one digit at a time, she says "sari". So I repeat and she says "sari". I try again and eventually she says "commaaaaand not recognised".

If I dial the number manually and actually connect to someone they tell me I sound like I am in a pond and speaking through a snorkel.

The local dealership seems less than interested and tell me that there are no known issues. Not sure I believe them.

Since we have had the TDV8 we've had a Mini and a Fiesta both of which have had perfect hands-free.

Can anyone offer any advice here please?

Not really advice but a couple of things to bear in mind...

1 - IIRC, it tries to learn your voice... Shouldn't be an issue if you've had the car from new.
2 - The mic is located near the interior light.

I gave up with mine as the mic is knackered.

Yes, I'd noticed that if I speak loudly at the rear view mirror I can sometimes make myself heard by the other party.

In that case, it sounds like your mic is knackered!

Car is 8 months old!

Noticed today that one of the rear light clusters has condensation in it. Might have to get both looked at together.

If you go into the voice settings you can change the language.

Defaults to English US, change to English UK and see how you get on.

Look at the evidence:

That alone, says to me that it is the mic... No amount of fiddling with settings will solve it if the system can't actually hear you. wink
