Interesting comment from Christian Horner re Bahrain

"Red Bull team principal Christian Horner says Formula 1 teams will trust the FIA when deciding on the Bahrain GP, but insists there are no plans to cancel the event at the moment.

Horner said the teams will rely on the FIA to make the right decision.

"We rely on the FIA, it's the FIA Formula 1 world championship, and Bahrain is one of the races on the calendar.

"They are far better placed to know what the issues are, and we trust their judgement, as we do the promoter, and we'll see how things develop."


Interesting how he has stated explicitly that they'll listen to the FIA, as it's their championship, with a secondary comment saying that they also trust the promoter, i.e. Bernie.

A subtle bit of positioning ?

Or just me reading too much between the lines ?

I'd have had far more interest/respect for him if he'd said that the) team won't be going to a Bahrain GP whatever happens as the current regime there is fairly disgusting.


That would get him some headlines too.

Well you can hardly expect him to say, "We have no faith in the FIA, and even less in the promoter".

The promoter is the holder of the race - in a roundabout way, this would be the Bahrain Government.

True, but I thought (probably incorrectly) that this was one of the locations where Bernie had his fingers in the promotor's pie locally as well.

Bahrain, China and soon to follow the Iran GP sponsored by Nuclear Energy Iran. F1 sold it's soul in the 70s and 80s and 90s to Tabacco now it's totalitarian governments. No wonder Bernie wants to exit Europe and especially Silverstone, says a lot it does.

Yes I used to check under my bed for those and all sorts of other things in my previous job, thankfully I'm normal now ( mostly ) like the rest of us on PH.

Does anyone actually think anything that comes out of Horner's mouth means anything? I never seen someone who can use so many words while saying nothing, it's actually a talent.

I fully agree, but last year (or the years before) China wasn't in the middle of some sort of civil war leading up to the GP.
