Alternator rebuild Edinburgh??

The alternator in my newly acquired V70 D5 may need some attention - does anyone know of a local place that offers a reconditioning service?
I could have a go myself, but I know you need at least one special tool (pulley removal) so it might be best left to a shop.
Thanks.
Do Scotrad not do it?I could have a go myself, but I know you need at least one special tool (pulley removal) so it might be best left to a shop.

Not sure if Jim Thompson at Sighthill is back on his feet, they were closed for a while, give them a bell - 0131 477 5107
Never heard of him, but I googled the phone number and it comes back as a carpet cleaning company...http://www.capitalcarpetcare.co.uk/

Dont know if Bellshill is too far out of your way but have used these guys many times http://www.shandonelectricalltd.co.uk/ or maybe you could send it to them?

the guy beside eroparts at turnhouse rd
Thanks for that.I nipped in there today in passing but he was closed. I'll try again though as it's pretty handy for me.
Thanks also for the other suggestions folks, it may well come to an exchange at a factors but my gut feeling is that it could be refurbed cheaper - it probably only needs bearings.
Cockburn Auto Electrics in Falkirk are excellent. Used them loads of times over the years. Drop off the part, have a workout at my gym, then go back for part. Tell them that Kenny from ship shape recommended you. Might not get it any cheaper, but might do really quick turn around if you say your coming from Edinburgh.
Update:
I had the alternator rebuilt by Jim Smith who, confusingly enough, trades under the name JB Steedman...
His place is in West Craigs Industrial Estate, Turnhouse Road. It's actually part of the same building that Jack Walker is in, accessed by the lane between them and Euro Car Parts.
Based on the service he gave I'd be happy to encourage others to give him a go, I believe he does all sorts of other auto electrical stuff too.
Thanks again for all the suggestions.
