Thought I'd start a new topic on this as was reading redseal's post about the Federal tyres and have been searching previous posts on tyre options. I need new rubber on all four corners of the Tamora. It's currently got Toyo R888's fitted but all sidewalls are cracked (similar to the photos in the Toyo safety memo that's referenced on another tyre post on this forum).

What tyres do people recommend for cars normally kept outside or in an unheated garage? i.e. what's the best all-weather tyre for the T cars? Goodyear Eagle F1 GDS3?

The Toyo's are good in the summer but I need a tyre that I don't constantly have to keep above 0 deg as the car sits outside a lot at the moment.

Don't know as I run triple 8's also but can you give me a link to the cracked sidewall thread?

Cheers.

The best "All weather" sports car tyre for a lightweight car is "Pirelli P Zero Nero All Season" great for summer and winter but not deep snow 2" and above. Not good for track days either

This is the link I have to the Toyo Techincal note on cold-weather use and storage of their R tyres.

Goodyear Eagle F1 Asymmetric is a very good road tyre, great fun on track as well.

+1 from me for the goodyears.. I've been using the asymmetric 2's in rain, dry and a soaked trackday and would recommend them thoroughly.
Can't comment on 'proper' winter/snow performance but all else is great!

This may be a silly question, but can you do asymetrics on the rear only?

I couldn't get the Eagles when I changed mine, so have put a set of Conti Sport 3's on. I had a very old set of the Eagle F1's before - so any comparison is pointless, but I'm pleased with th extra grip these have.

I put a set on my old 911 (964) a few years ago (before I saw the light a bought a TVR) and thought they were much better than the Michelin Pilot Sport's that had previously been on that.

I have had Goodyear Eagle F1 GDS3s on my Saab 900 Turbo (I know, not quite the same) for a long time and they have absolutely amazing grip in the dry and the wet.

However... they are an absolute nightmare in the snow, and I've found I have to have them rebalanced about half way through their wear, plus they track along imperfections in the road like they're on rails
