Im planning my first mods on my e92 m3 inregards to perphaps some ecu and pulleys etc. There are some many companies out there that I dont know who to turn to. I want a bit more hp but reliability is key. Anyone with past experience With any of these companies??

Thanks a lot!!

I guess you're going to get (hopefully) positive comments from customers of all three. I've spent a lot of time with Evolve over the last 3 or so years, having had my 135i remapped and my 1M mapped, FMIC and exhaust done (and decatted downpipes this week in fact!). They always have a wide range of NA stuff in and offer both mapping and hardware tuning. Recently got to drive their de-maffed V10 M5 - lovely smile Great chaps, very straightforward and honest.

Not sure Phil C at CPC is much into the tuning or mods of cars....I would talk to Evolve or CA Automotive for tuning etc. Phil C is you man for engine issues, servicing and all things mechanical, but not for superchargers, suspension mods etc.

Thanks a lot for your input.
Yeah i read about cpc and wasnt sure they d be handlind mods etc.. I really wanna spice up the m3 a bit but since its na do you anticipate any reliability issues? Iam seriously considering an h&s full exhaust system and then perhaps a ecu maybe a pulley and air filter for the m3..is this the way to go?
Thanks!!!

I can’t see those mods making a great deal of difference to be honest.

Let me quantify that; they'll change the sound of the intake and exhaust for sure. And they’ll be a slight change in the pick-up and possible minor power improvements. With NA engines, you tend to get used to any increase or change in response very quickly, unless the performance has been dramatically improved.

Just be sure you know what to expect when you hand over your cash, to save from any future disappointment.

hi antoniodias,

Head over to http://forums.m3cutters.co.uk/ where all things power wise for the M3 has been discussed. Cross check with some of the things than can have been done USA and Germany side as well.

In short, how much of a power upgrade are you looking for? 5-8 bhp? 20-25+? 50-75+ or 100+?

Also, what kind of budget do you have?!

You'll see reports of various 'incidents' regarding tuner's etc across a few forums. No one company can ever get things right 100% of the time for 100% of the people this isn't just specific to M3's but across the board.

It's expensive to get reliable and excellent performing power upgrades on Normally Aspirated BMW M engines, so I'd say do indeed do as much research as you possibly can prior to pressing ahead smile

Cheers, Dennis!

Yeah i have done a lot of research and the more I read the more confused I get..
i have just called CA automotive(UK) as someone previously advised and spoke with the owner who sounded VERY knowleadgle and extremely friendly. I guess through ecu , forced induction kit, full exhaust , filter + pulley I will be getting somewhere around 40bhp at approx £3500. Definetly not cheap no..
Thanks a lot for your input guys (sorry my ignorance when it comes to this im pretty newbie).

Roy @ CA knows his stuff and they have done some top mods to cars, but remember he is just a supplier and not a true tuner! The US is the place to look but not much help if here in the UK. Evolve may well help point you in the right direction.

Phil at CPC used to look after my M5, he is a top chap and a genuine M car nut, he is worth talking to as he will know most of what other people are doing and can proably offer more impartial advice than most! Although he doesn't have a tuning reputation as such he is very keen on modifying etc and probably understands these cars better than the others mentioned!

My car had a stage 1 remap by the previous owner at evolve and with air filter and remus back boxes is about 440bhp.Since i have owned the car i have changed the brakes suspension wheels tyres seats and diff in that order. If the car will only be used on road then a bit more sound and a little more power will be good but if the car is to be used on track then i would spend the money on better brakes and just back boxes as the sound is brilliant.

For a BMW M i'd only consider DMS.

They did my 535d M Sport, E60 M5 & B7 RS4. Faultless customer service, support & productsmile

Evolve tuned and fitted the airbox in my old M Coupe and did a top job, remaps before and after on their rolling road. I would have travelled down to CPC for my servicing aswell since have heard good things about Phil.
