Dear All,

Just a little bit of a shock today when I opened an email from Lynette Woods-Reynolds of Platinum Supercars in Cyprus.

She says "....two 10yr old, zero mile TVRs have just been found in a bonded warehouse. They've not even been PDI'd or had the VAT paid. We are getting them on the road for our client (or into a bubble in his collection)....."

They are 4.2s apparently.

Looks like somebody's Christmas present has arrived later than expected.

Thats Excellent

I love warehouse/ barn finds.... my Cerb was a barn find, but it had a few more than zero miles on the clock, and the air intakes were filled with pellets and empty shot gun cartridges ( Thats farmers kids for ya smile )

Email her back and ask if she will post piccys

They might be worth less than you would think. After 10 years without moving every seal and bit of rubber will likely need replacing, assuming the engine internals or cylinder bores haven't rusted solid.

All the parts are still obtainable, and a few TVR s have been knocked together form left overs from blackpool recently.

So with a bit of time and cash thrown at them , it must be worth it to the right person.

Oh I don't doubt that they can be rebuilt, but they would in all probability need a complete rebuild of both the engine and suspension.

Just heard that we can have access to the bonded warehouse late next week (we were hoping to sort it for this week). We will collect both cars & bring them to the workshop to assess their state!

I will report back with pictures & will be keeping my eyes peeled for any other treasures lurking under an inch of dust!! clap

It’s the wrong forum Gromit!

Finally – we’ve just been to see the 2 Cerbera’s at the bonded warehouse & it transpires I’m on the wrong forum. They’re not Cerbies, they’re Chimera’s!! Brand new, covered in dust, fired up first time. One of them looks pristine, the other has a torn rear window & as a consequence, has suffered a bit of cosmetic damage due to short term water ingress (apparently they pushed it outside a few weeks ago). Both have had the gear knobs nicked!

Both have power steering, air con, Km clocks & according to the plates were made for Malaysia (which I presume is why they are factory fitted with a/c). I’m currently waiting to see paperwork to fill the gaps in the story of these 2 babies.

007 has 232 Kms

005 has 233 Kms

We are now applying for temporary release from the bonded so we can get them on the ramp & carry out a proper inspection for our customer.

Right, I’m off to the Chimera forum now.......

PS – also spotted at the warehouse, a V8 Morgan & a Delorean!! What an Aladdins cave, they almost had to throw us out !!

The Morgan, for those interested!

Is that a man with no trousers on bending into the footwell of the grey one?
Are they actually Malasyian cars? The facotry near KL made Chimps for a year or three.

Yes he is Gazzab! I can confirm he's wearing trousers though (well I hope he waseek, seeing as I'm married to him....)

The VIN/build plates state:
TVR SPORTS
(MALAYSIA) SDN. BHD.

so I think they must have been built there - will know more once we have the paperwork in our hands!

OK - suggest you have a search on pistonheads re the malaysian cars. As far as I recall they had their own set of quality issues that were different to those from Blackpool... MAYBE the panel fit n finish etc...? I cant recall the detail...

No, as far as i know, they are still in storage. VAT chargeable at the price of the car when new needs paying before they can be released from the bonded warehouse. The way the economy is there now, it's likely they will see their final days out in that warehouse. Luckily, we closed the garage out in Cyprus and came back before it all went totaly to rats s**t!!
