When was the first production Cerbera SP6 made ?

Recently I came across a Cerbera SP6 built 08/1998 and around 40k miles. The seller told me, the engine was never rebuilt. Somehow hard to believe, but where first ones properly made ?

2004 is when the first ones were 'properly' made ;-)

Lots of early Speed6's have made 40k without a rebuild - then again lots haven't. But there is no cut and dry cut off point mileage wise as variable build and part quality going on at the time so some are a lot stronger than others.
I bought my Cerb on the spec/colour combo I wanted not on the engine. It may or may not require a rebuild, who knows, but budget for at least a top end rebuild and IF it goes (and its a big if) at least you will get back a strong engine in a the car you wanted to begin with. Buy one with a rebuild (especially an early rebuild) and who knows what the quality was like or how its been treated since.

I took the view that the Speed6 has issues but the issues are well known, well documented and the rebuilds from RND, Power or STR8 now well tested and likely to make the engine as reliable as you would expect.

I took my 2001 S6 to STR8SIX for a service at around 40K and they told me that the engine was eating itself. Technically you could say it was an older engine that was 'OK', but the reality was different.
