Hi,

I am replacing the battery on my griffith, does anyone know what the battery box dimensions are ? I am thinking about fitting one of these which I think should fit (I know the width and height are ok , but the length is 260mm)

Thanks

Have a read of this thread, I posted the dimensions of the battery box in my pre-cat and some of the options for smaller batteries if you are interested. Its about 10 posts down.

or you could ditch the battery box as they are a pita and buy a lightweight battery tray that bolts down. the battery then straps into it - undo the strp which takes 10 seconds and you can slide the battery out - its really easy. i got mine from ebay for about £20

jesfirth, what did you do to cover the gap left between the new bracket and the floor mat?

There is no gap on mine - it just sits behind the vertical carpeted foot rest panel in the original battery position. see below for the ebay details - just copy and paste into the browser.

NB you need to check the battery dimensions as the trays vary in size.

I just drilled 4 holes through the floor - bolted the battery tray down with stainless steel bolts, cut off the bolt ends underneath and then sealed the nuts washers etc underneath in black mastic to avoid leaks etc

Ah, righto. Now I get what you meant and I'd completely misunderstood what it was and how it worked.
Thanks for the explanation, it makes much more sense now.

I have one of these batteries fitted in my Chim. Fits the box with no problems and as far as I am aware its the same box as the Griff.
