Lease deals - V60 or something else?
Discussion
Following on from the recent "cheap lease deals" thread, I'm really tempted to get one of the V60 R-Designs on the 18 month special deal - £650 down and £220 a month. I'm running a 3.2 V6 Touareg at the moment, and I don't really need something that big so it seems silly to waste the money on fuel and inevitable maintenance. Aside from the V60, are there any similar priced Lease deals that people are aware of? I need space for 2 adult passengers in the back (and doors for them too) but aside from that I'm pretty open - I looked at a Tiguan but it's a business only deal. Any other ideas?
Cheers!

That sounds reasonable.
Stupid question but what happens after 18 months?
You give it back. Stupid question but what happens after 18 months?
OP, don't forget the VAT, those prices sound as if they're Net. Also, it's mileage dependent, but I'm assuming you know that, and have an annual mileage that's within the limit for that offer?
ETA: Maybe it does include VAT, I've just found the deal. Seems very cheap.

You give it back, pay any charges for excess mileage/damage and lease another.
Sounds like an excellent deal to me OP, and I'm quite fond of the V60 especially in R-design guise.
Similar MB/BMW/Audi would be considerably more cash. I'd be surprised if you could get a comparable Ford/Vauxhall for any less and IMO the V60 is a far nicer car.

Yep. That deal has been around for quite a while and I think is good value. There was a similar deal for the Passat CC doing the rounds a couple of years back. Fully loaded 2.0Tdi (leather, xenons, bluetooth etc) for about £230 with the VAT on 10,000PA. a lot of car for the money.Edited by Super Slo Mo on Tuesday 21st February 15:07

Cheers guys!
It is including the VAT and upto 10k miles, which would be plenty for me - I've heard they're pretty strict on condition when you return them, but I'd just have to accept spending some time/money bringing it up to scratch before I handed it back. Does anyone have direct experience of the V60 - what are they like in the back etc? I did have a poke around one at the weekend but not long enough to make up my mind - guess I'll go and have a drive. The Tiguan deal was slightly cheaper than the V60 but as it's business only it's no good to me - just wanted to make sure there were no better deals around than the V60!
Thanks,
Dom

Do you have to give it back or can you continue to lease at that price for another term?
Also if you do give it back and lease a new car do you have to pay the £600 odd quid again?
Leasing idiot me, and I can't be arrisd to look it up
They will usually allow you to extend the lease if it suits, but otherwise the deals are usually 3+23 or 3+36 payment structure so you would have to find the £600+ again in 2 years. Also if you do give it back and lease a new car do you have to pay the £600 odd quid again?

Deposit is not really correct, it should really be called an Initial Payment (IP), it's non-returnable. At the end of the lease period (this is a 3+17 spread rental 18 month deal) it MIGHT be possible to formally extend the lease but you'd need to obtain a quote from the leasing company nearer to the end of the term. Also if you do give it back and lease a new car do you have to pay the £600 odd quid again?

It is entirely possible and actually likely that if formally extended the monthly rentals would increase after the initial term.
Hope that helps.,
What engine in the V60? If its a 1.6D or something equally crappy then no thanks for me.
I like Volvo (getting one myself tomorrow) but the S60/V60 interior design is odd. There is a large chrome trimed air vent in the middle of the floating console, and then another smaller one to the left of the screen which isn't chromed, but all the other vents are chromed again. It really bugs me that the design is so odd.

Thanks for all the input!
It's the 1.6 diesel, but that'd suit me fine - it's economy I'm mainly after with this car. As for options, the standard r-design will be fine as it comes, I don't need sat nav or anything as the car will mainly be used to carry people around town and on short distance (clients, not a taxi!). Looks like no one's come up with anything better than the V60 deal so I'll probably go for it!
Cheers,
Dom

I've driven the 1.6D in an S40 and it is uber s
te. seriously a 1.6D in a V60 is going to be so bad you'll be ragging its ass off all day and lose any economy gains but still not making good progress.

As long as you don't expect any real performance it'll be fine OP and should return 50MPG all day long.

So are you going for the red or white?

That's slightly worrying about the 1.6 - I'm happy for it to be sluggish and boring but do need the economy!
I'd probably go for the white, just because I can throw some stickers on it and advertise my business!
Search "cheapy lease" in the PH search and it should come up!

Go and get a test drive in one. Reset the MPG and give it a run for 10-15 mins and see what you think. Car salesmen expect that kind of thing these days.I'd probably go for the white, just because I can throw some stickers on it and advertise my business!

Thanks for clearing that up though.
If it was a 3 year deal those terms seem ok, but not for 18months. Not to my mind anyway. I'd learn to hate a 1.6D engine I think.
Only reason I piped up was that I got a go in a brand spanking new mercedes C220 CDI at the weekend and I forgot what it's like to drive a quality new car. It's just felt "nice".
I'll stick with my 10yr old V70 D5 bucket of fvcking liability for now though I think.

Two good deals I've seen in the last couple of days.... Skoda Yeti at 180 something and E-Class Merc at 240 which I thought was very good for what you get. Can dig out the links if of interest?
Wow - are those inc VAT? I did spot a decent deal on the Yeti but an E-Class could be a good step up - links would be great!Cheers,
