Pricked by conscience, I have decided to donate a pint of my finest claret to the National Blood Service.
However, having gone to the NBS website, I see that the next date within driving distance of where I live (let alone staggering distance) is... 26 October. If i want to wait for them to come to my home town, so I don't have to drive back, that will be on 18 December.
Can this be right? I thought they were hard up for the red stuff? Is there any other (quicker) way to give blood other than waiting for the wagon?

If you ring the number I'm sure there will be one before then.

Turns out I was using the site wrong ha ha, not sure I should be giving my blood away, there's clearly already a shortage of flow to the brain.

Well, I'd perhaps hedge my bets if it was my first time.

Tried to give it 30-odd years ago but they rejected me on the grounds of having been in Mexico a month earlier. Do they still give out biccies?

Drinks, not sure about biscuits as I've not been allowed to donate for 10 years now. Something about being given 10 units of blood in 2000 means that I might have something nasty they do not want to spread. Yeah, thanks for that!
