That is seriously quick! 0-60 in 5 seconds and 0-100 in 11 seconds, if my counting was right.

He should have left it in auto instead of changing gear every half a second. Sounded well for a diesel and seemed to go like the clappers!

As a new car I'm with you. Buy a diesel to "save money" then loose 10k in depreciation in the first year alone irked

But, after 3years and 90,000 miles up and down the M1 it'll be a great car to snap up at auction.

Very impressive.

Soundwise, it's pretty similar to a 35d/40d unit that gets a non stop bashing for sounding boring...

Yes, but this car is effectively a diesel M5. Why would you want a diesel M5? Its not going to be fuel efficient (not enough to matter anyway) and its not going to sound better than a petrol engine, and its not going to be that much cheaper either I guess. So why bother?

that's pretty impressive, but for the person who said it would be quicker than an M5 because it has a bit more torque:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wzv2Bc4ylGY (skip to 50 seconds)

it takes the 550d about 30 seconds to hit 240. that's 50% longer than the M5 takes.

i see the point, but it certainly ain't no M5 replacement in a straight line at least. sounds great for a diesel, you can't tell, but you know they've piped the noise through a la M5. and you know what, i wouldn't mind in that car. i'd rather listen to that than a derv lump....it really sounds quite nice. if that is indeed the real noise (unlikely IMO) then fair play.
