Restoring badly modified cars of Chav cars to standard

Been watching lots of car maintenance and restoration shows on sky recently.
Anyway got me thinking modified cars and Chav cars of models which would be desirable rather than buying an unmolestered example why not buy something which most likely will be killed and crushed it will be vastly cheaper than a clean example and of course you will be saving an example of a desirable model.
Reasons not to
1. You have to assume it's been prepeely hammered
2. Bad condition all round and badly maintained
3. Loads to do to get it right
4. Most likely need a blow over spray
