Why ? Sunday night peak time. Closing ceremony will be live. If the BBC have an Olympic channel this might be live but I wouldn't hold your breath. The atmosphere at the show against the TV production viewed at home......................... Justin Cyder said:

again why ? Its 3 acts so far with one more special guest likely, its not Live 8. Normal Hyde Park (Hard Rock Calling esque) shows are several hours in duration and contain full sets by multiple acts. The Olympic closing ceremony will be over by 7 or 8pm giving at least 2 or 3 hours before 22:45 curfew.Justin Cyder said:

55,000 capacity is hardly going to devastate London and the transport infrastructure. Buses are queued up around the park and tube trains are stacked up at the relevant (& open) stations waiting to whisk the punters away as fast as they are able to. Park Lane and Grosvenor Road is closed to traffic to funnel pedestrian punters directly into Victoria Station. Justin Cyder said:

I wouldn't mind going, good line up, but I suspect the person predicting 'cut down sets' is right.
Maybe not though, in which case it'll be a great 6 hours (and maybe only live on the Red Button
) if you're within the 20% of the crowd closest to the stage.
Not being a BT customer though, I'm a second class citizen, so I'll stick with my original policy of not having anything to do with the Olympics at all! (I'm just bitter as I didn't get any of the tickets I ordered...

Kerching. I much prefer a sweaty little venue where you can actually get to the bar & get up close with the band. Horses for courses, but have a good time if you do go. You could practise by putting four playmobil figures at the end of your garden & squinting at them for four hours whilst busting for the loo and wondering if youre wallet's been pinched!

- Yep that's exactly how all 'festivals' look to me.If you like these bands, go and see them somewhere smaller - This will be an event to say you were at, rather than one that will be remembered for the quality of the performances.

A mate got our tickets earlier in the week BT priorty .......
We try and do one concert at Hyde Park each year as it's generally good weather and chilled day out (even better on a work day knowing my little miniones are working while I'm playing
)..... transport is never a big issue.
I'm really looking forward to this..... Blur were fantastic when they played Hyde Park a few years ago, The Specials are joy to see and just get better each time (x4) I see them..... New Order never seen, but love their music...
Ohhh and you can't replicate the buzz of seeing music live by watching it on tv by the way... live music is where it's at
