They have given me 5 days notice.... so they want me to go in to tell them if I want to be fired or resign.

I am thinking not to attend and call in sick...

Does the notice begin from the date they terminate the contract or from today...

I am wondering if I can delay the termination by a few days... get more money that way.

Any ideas?

Resign and either work your notice or don't depending on their wishes. You will no doubt want a reference from this company at some point so don't mess them about by playing silly little games trying to get a couple of days extra pay.

What he said.

Resign and get a good reference.

This is what happened to me about four years ago. I could have walked out not giving a st there and then, as I was told that I would be working my last week as there were financial difficulties. Thanked them for their time and left on the Friday as requested.

Try and be as positive about it as you can - find out what the reason for the end of probation is.

Hi folks.

I asked about the reasons. I don't think they are valid... when I explained it to fellow collegues they don't understand the reasoning either.

There's little I can do. Just have to move on.

I am shocked.

I am just going to resign then today, I will send an email in to my line manager.

I also feel like defending myself as I have been attacked without valid reasons by the head of finance. I have not had the opportunity to do so far...
