Pretty sure it is legal but obviously it could easily end in the wrong hands and for illegal purposes

Clocking a car is not illegal, selling a car thats clocked and not disclosing its true mileage is.

I used to think that clocking digital odometers was impossible but after reading some of threads on here I'm surprised just how easy it actually is.

Easy if you know how to unsolder a surface mount chip, connect the unit to certain pins on the chip and / or the ECU, program it and then solder it back on.

(I know not all cars will be this easy, just all modern cars)

Your typical "selling from a portacabin" won't have a hope in hell of being able to do it.
