Hey all, wondering if anyone can tell me what the otter switch was from on an '85 350i?
Alternatively, if it's a bespoke part, can anyone tell me what the part number is or where I can get one?

Been running the wedge up prior to getting it permanently in the garage for the next couple of months and tearing it down before it's MOT'd.
The cooling fan is intermittent, sometimes not cutting in at all. If I don't keep my eye on the temperature gauge, I'm sure the car would boil! eek

Of course, it may NOT be the otter switch, but as I'll be changing all the engine hoses, it makes sense to do it at the same time!

Are you sure it isn't the fan starting to seize. That is what happened to mine, intermittently worked and then seized fully.

In hose adjustable would do the trick as a good alternative to the cheap otter one. Even adjustable to the temperature you like.
If the search works on here, a few posts give more details.
As mentioned before the fan needs to work, had it fail on me (kenlowe not installed correctly so motor rusted until it died) on the morning doing a tourist classic rally on a hot day.... survived but just. Temporary replacement of a few quid is still going strong for a couple of years now.
