We buy any car shock.....
Discussion
Nope that is the value they have given it so when they send it to auction and it goes for £13K or so they still make some money.
You think they would pay top money and not look at making a profit?
By contrast i had a focus st for sale for 4 months, wanted 12.5k but novody seemed interested, they ended up giving me that exact amount (-50 quid admin charge) as it was 100% mint and they could make a couple of grand on it.

A "we buy any car" offer will never be a true reflection of a cars value.
Is that really a surprise to you?
i understand the value will be low so they can make some money but how much. 2-3k even if they make that it still means the car's true value is circu. £13-14kIs that really a surprise to you?
It could also be worth "just shy of £20k".
All comes down to spec/condition/mileage etc (which you haven't told us), so I don't really understand the point of this thread.
I was on a course the other week and it happened to be on the same Trading Est as WBAC offices where customers drop off their car.
I couldn't believe the cars that were being loaded onto transporter, nearly new Mercs, an X5, even a tasty T5 van. I thought it would just be older sh!tters that went through them.

I'm sure they have plenty of that those too - but given the state of our economy - I'm really not surprised that there are a lot of people who are desperate enough to use them (but personally I find their business model / tactics abhorrent).I couldn't believe the cars that were being loaded onto transporter, nearly new Mercs, an X5, even a tasty T5 van. This again, really?
If they're bidding you in the balls they don't want your car, it's just that simple. I can put my daily driver in there and get pretty much exactly the same quote I'm getting from dealers to p/ex it against a new one, perhaps even a touch more. Why? Because it's a car that's in demand on the used market, so they'll pay strong money for it.
Last time I checked, 10 year old 996 C4s weren't getting people climbing over each other and beating down doors to buy them. They'll flip it on to an auction where it'll probably take an age to sell and make only a little more than they paid for it, and it might take them months.
In other news, insurers who quote £20,000/yr don't really want your business either.

"....from fifty quid to a hundred grand, we buy any car dot commmm......."That shoite advert is stuck in my head now !!
They offered me £5k for an A3 - traded it for £7.5k and the market was showing about £9k, albeit rather slow at the time, hence the trade-in (2010).
A while back I put my daily driver's details in for fun (with a few scratches declared) and actually got a pretty respectable quote. It's only a slightly tatty Focus - most definitely not a Porsche - but I'm tempted to give them a go when I get rid of it. Do they look at things like cambelt intervals?

I hasten to add my less than perfect shed will be accurately described if it goes up as a private advert. If it's the company responsible for the world's most annoying advert on the other hand I'm happy to go with caveat emptor.
