Sitting in my home office staring out the window I see three pigeons making low level high speed passes across the garden. Anyway they come around for another pass with the lead bird weaving and the other two running in very close formation behind, then suddenly the lead bird goes ballistic, then upside down and drops back in behind the third bird, I was almost expecting him to get weapons look. It was amazing to see.

Is this normal Pigeon behaviour or is there some kind of Pigeon Top Gun School that I am unaware of?

I think it's something they do to avoid being caught by a swooping bird of prey. I'm sure I've seen some video of this behaviour on TV, probably on Springwatch or something else involving Kate Humble.

There are shallow rollers, and there are deep rollers. You can't breed two deep rollers or their young, their offspring, will roll all the way down, hit and die.

Agent Starling is a deep roller, Barney.

Let us hope one of her parents was not.

Wait a minute!

It shows a RAF roundel but "color" is the US spelling.

The fact that you often post the same thing I'm thinking on quite a lot of threads worries me.

A lot. smile
