Diesel Owners & Turbo's

Is it just me or do a lot of diesel owners who think there genuine car people seem to feel the need to make a big deal about the fact that they have a turbo. Ive lost count of the number of people lately who say they have a 2litre turbo. But forget to mention the fact it's diesel. Why do they feel the need to make such a fuss out of it?

Surely it cant be just me? Or is it?

I dont think anybody does do an NA diesel anymore.

I used to have a NA Cavalier 1.7 diesel. Even though it was (very very) slow, I quite liked it, it felt very free to rev unlike the TDIs.

Looking at the Skoda website it appears they are all FA... I stand corrected!

It is a bit of a shame when people have discussions and all you get is stupid comments like "cool story bro" and the "great" face plam picture some clever individual has posted above - Shame we do not all have time time to read all threads ever posted on the internet!

A friend of mine recently posted a facebook status saying "2litre turbo. That is all." I commented "Diesel?" he removed the status

This thread reminded me of that, the 2.0 turbo he was describing was a Avensis

I really hope he doesn't see this post

I think I'd sound a bit of a nobber if I described my car as a 1.9 turbo. Almost, but not quite as bad, as people who describe their car as a "[insert manufacturer] sport". No, you chavistic pleb, it's a Focus diesel with wheels that are far too big, a stupid bodykit, and a badge.

Drove a 1700di cors combo last week. IIRC they're non-turbo too ain't they?

TDi is fine, it's when people specifically make the point of a turbo and forget the diesel part that winds me up.

i tell people i drive a diesel land rover, and that it out accelerates milk floats and cars turning right

I don't even mention which model. in fact I am more likely to mention that its 14 years old (still looks lovely to me )

the wife's car is described as a hot hatch nothing more. i don't see the point to more description, i like to stay a bit annony-mouse.
