Guys had a couple of reports in recently asking for threads to be stickied.

Our front index page here could just end up with all being stickied threads, so to try and assist I've asked the techies for the option of making a wiki and FAQ rather than a sticky.

These thread can then easily be viewed and viewed via our forum FAQ option, thus allowing the front page to remain sticky/clutter free.

I've put the old "How to Search" thread in the FAQ's as an example (temporarily).

Thoughts?

Thanks in advance for your inputs.

Hi Big Al

To be honest even though I have asked for items to become sticky's (BBWF stuff) I dont think many people look at them. Take the BBWF Information sticky, we organised this so all the BBWF posts are linked! This saved us from bumping them to the top of the page! It has no effect in fact the opposite, items which we needed to keep people aware of don't appear to be read! Its either people don't read the sticky or they are not interested in a Rolling Road or Food at BBWF?

There are 2 stickies on there for owners list, surely they could be combined to make 1. Personally, I would lose "wedge list, add your car" because the other one is set out better

These 3 could be put in one sticky headed WEDGE PARTS AND SPARES with links to them in that header. Or even all three links put in the FAQ section

On saying that, I guess my sticky with links to all the BBWF stuff could be just added into Mr Tank's Booking details sticky. Doesn't matter where they are at if no one reads them anyway

Hi Al, I was wondering where the "How to Search" one went (ironically it took me half an hour to find it again because the PH search is, well, sub-optimal ;^)

I just had a look at the links bar at the top. It's one of those things that seems to meld into the background and you forget it's there.

I think this would work if it's made obvious. So how about just one sticky message at the top of the forum with a summary of what you can find in the Wiki, the FAQ, and how to get there - i.e. click on the navigation bar (with a couple of screenshots)? I can put that together no problems.

While we are on the subject of PH I did make a suggestion a year ago about a per-forum top link?

So (for example) wedges could be www.pistonheads.com/wedges

This could then deliver you straight into the forum FAQ. This then means that we can give the club or other traders a link to the BBWF events page that is quite short and easy to type in, and print it on flyers for other events.

OK I have put together a top-of-forum Wiki. See "Welcome to the Wedge Forum"

If everyone agrees (or at least doesn't object) then this will replace all the stickies barring one for BBWF - to keep that very visible.

How does it look - comments good and bad welcomed!

Hi Adam..A single link to all of the info on the front page is a very good idea..It leaves loads of room for more posts..It is better structured if there is one main heading with internal sub headings...Ziga

Bump on this to get any last minute comments - we'll try it for a bit, it can be put back to how it was if people don't like it.
