Sealskinz Gloves

OK, I bought these believing the '100% waterproof' spiel. I think I even said in another thread that they were.

However, after 3 times cycling in the medium-heavy rain for around an hour, they are definitely not waterproof.

No sir, not one bit, at all. In fact, 'sponge' is a better description.

Strangely though, my hands never got cold even with them soaked.

Anyone found better?

You could try complaining about waterproof gloves that aren't...

i thought they were windproof not waterproof? Either way I love mine

Mine haven't ever leaked, and they've taken a soaking many times.

Are you sure water isn't running down the sleeves and into the gloves from the top?

The biking gloves are quoted as '100% Waterproof' from their website and literature!

I wish. The waterproof jacket sleeve is always over the outside and velcroed to stop just this. Perhaps it's time dependant as it does take a while, but they are saturated!

That could be it - I've consistently heard good things about sealskinz, so would be surprised if they are quite so against their advertising.

I use Sealskinz for skiing as well as cycling and the glove surfaces sometimes get wet but my hands don't.

Edit: As in it feels like they are absorbing some moisture.

Yes, they do get wet on the outside, for sure. Condensation is also inevitable in certain circumstances... it's not the gloves leaking, it's physics doing its thing.

Unless of course you have a duff pair, which must occasionally happen.

Just to be clear, I think mine are working perfectly as my hands stay dry (and usually warm although skiing in -30C can challenge that).

I have also experienced my 100% waterproof gloves letting in water whilst in the mountains, I have just tested again using a sink full of water same result, there is no damage to material on inspection.
