New car website ideas!

Hi Everyone,

I am toying with the idea of creating a new website for all the car fans out there, some sort of community site where people can upload pictures, videos etc.

Not sure if it would work or not, so wondering if anyone has any other ideas for a car site, can be a new idea or something that exists but could be done a lot better.

Any thoughts let me know.

what experience of website making and marketing do you have and would you be trying to make profit or just cover costs?

This is a forum! Totally different type of site.

Thats like saying facebook is the same as pistonheads!

It was really any kind of site something different and has maybe not been done before.

I can think a website like you're suggesting would be popular, problem being is that there is already a website like it. I'm just trying to remember the name of it oh I remember now it's called PistonHeads

I've got it into my head that I'd like to start a website. If you could just give me all the ideas so I can leech them without contributing anything, or having any original input or ideas myself, that'd be grand.

Been working with websites for over 10 years & work for a digital agency currently. Its really just for me, I do quite a bit of rallying as a navigator so have a good passion for cars.

The idea was actually to get something every car fan could use and if you had common sense a lot of ideas come from what other people would like.

Pistonheads isn't just a forum.

It is a community, with a forum and media platforms.

It has a huge web presence and has evolved to be one of the biggest car sites around, where people can post pics of their cars, communicate offline as well as on and does most of what a social network does anyway without the silly gimmicks.

The best ideas are the ones that when launched people wonder how they lived without it. I don't think millions of people wanted facebook until it existed.

Listen everyone.

First of I deal with web clients every day of the week, I know how ideas are formed and how they are improved.

There is no research involved, it is just something I wanted to do myself, a hobbie of sorts! Its not to make a profit, copy pistonheads or anything else like that, it was mainly for something that had not been done yet.

So lets just forget I asked as obviously for some strange reason this appears to be a sore point!!
