Anybody on here play? I've just subscribed again and enjoying it more than when I used to. Noticed new expansions are announced, although without a release date, and there is still a LOAD of stuff to do on the game. Currently spending my time levelling my SPriest to 85 (58 atm) and then I'd have my first 85 character.
So, anyone play? What is your toon? How do you play? What realm? I know WoW has a massive user base so I'd be surprised if nobody played that frequented this forum!

My inactive account was hacked, and when I got it back it still had 25 days on it, so I thought I'd give it a go as I hadn't played since raiding in WotLK.
I couldn't believe how much it had been simplified. Instant teleportation to instances (and back again), stupidly fast levelling, boring instances, Elites aren't even difficult and could be solo'd, every class can DPS well, spec switching instantly.
It made the game feel small, it lost the scale, the challenge and the epicness. They've screwed the balance between accessibility, challenge and reward.

I play it and have done for too long now. My main is a resto druid (Bokoshoko) on Bronze Dragonflight and I also get my blood DK (Shokoshoko) out of the box to tank alt runs and a specific DS HM boss.
The game has changed primarily by increasing the accessibility to the content so that the majority of the playerbase can see it. Blizzard has streamlined the levelling process enormously apparently in response, as are so many of the changes, to the demands of a majority that do not want it to be a huge time sink/grind.
I only play to raid now which has been my position since the end of Tier 11. With Dragon Soul and the introduction of a 3 raid difficulty levels the sense that hard modes are the only true challenge left is even greater than it was in Tier 12.
I do agree that simplification has occured for example; the "old days" of spending hours theorycrafting out the itemisation on a given item have gone (whether that's a good or bad thing depends on your view). However, again the challenge of the hardmodes is where you need to look if you do want to be involved in such careful decisions around the significance of stats.
The comment about boring instances is a problem WoW has always had; I don't know if you were around when Cataclysm actually dropped but at that point none of those new instances were considered boring or easy. There was significant uproar across the forums calling for nerfs as the heroic instances were regularly taking 3 hours to complete or destroying multiple groups due to difficulty.
The situation now is however significantly different as every body knows the tactics, people are getting gear so rapidly that they outgear the content within days of hitting 85 and of course Blizzard responded to the comments regarding difficulty and nerfed many of the instances.
Recognising that the above may come across as a rampant defence of Blizzard I freely admit that raiding is going downhill and needs some work.
Looking just within the confines of Cataclysm Tier 13 (DS) is poor as a final instance when compared with Firelands. If you extend your view further back can anyone argue that Blizzard have even matched ICC in Cataclysm let alone the heights of Ulduar.
The final encouter of this tier, Madness of Deathwing, where we fight the big bad dragon is (and no spoilers here if you've not seen it) lacking in scale compared to say Ragnaros, the Lich King or Algalon.
Having said that there are many good things about the changes, I for one do not miss standing in Dalaran and spamming /2 with LF1 Tank for Gundrak for 40 mins and then watching a group fall apart.

This pretty much covers it. I have played since release and am now going through a post/pre expansion lul which always happens when you have geared alts to a level when it really doesnt justify spending too much time getting those extra bits as you know there is an new expansion around the corner (pandas) that will make all the lvl 85 epics redundant.I'm a casual player now and the only raids I do are the LFR and the odd DS10. The speed at which a scrub 85 alt can be fully geared is laughable to be honest. A lot of the old content was revamped in Cata so its worth levelling an alt to see the new content.

I've played it off and on for years. I like it when I play but just get seriously hacked off with the people you have to play with sometimes who invite you into a group to make up the numbers and then get hacked off when you get the loot or some other unnamed misdemeanour that gets you kicked out of the instance.
So i end up running around doing it on my own most of the time.
So when Skyrim came along, It answered my prayers, and i don't have to pay a frenchman a monthly stipend for the privilege

I was pulled into playing it, I lasted a good 4-5 months before i got bored and stopped.
I enjoyed it and would probably go back, its just that the £9 a month is a bit steep and its boring if your not playing with a group or friends.
I just played as a hunter and never tried anything else, got some nice rare spirit beast pets and a few pretty rare mounts!

I want to play BF3.. I really do. I actually think WoW has really gotten ahold this time. The starter edition really is the final nail in the coffin for drawing people across I think and a smart move by Blizzard. Maybe I'll play some BF3 in the next week as I'm moving house and not going to have the Internet until the 15th March. I'm actually pretty upset about that!
