I have just been reading an MOT website with all the criteria that is tested and I notice that according to the rules Honeycomb backgrounds are not allowed:

http://www.motester.co.uk/CarOwnersGuidetoTheMOT/W...

How does that affect our cars as I was led to believe that they had to be Honeycomb in order to let the back lights shine through?

Has anyone had any issues or arguments over this one? confused

Nope, I always explain to the tester that's how they are/were type approved and show them the lights working from inside the boot.

There was a blog on Ph that talk about cars pre 2001 should not have an issue with the honeycomb plate

Go into the above URL read the bottom of the statement. Your fine pre 2001, you should have no problems, if you do take a print out of the above link that should shut them up
