Which tyres - X350 - again
Discussion
Father has asked about tyres for his XJ.
18 inch wheels - options are : Falcon, Dunlop Sport, Goodyear or Pirelli (not sure of exact choices).
He is looking for the smoothest and quietest ride.
What would you chaps recommend?
I know I asked this before, but he didn't change them, and I didn't write anything down at the time.
Thanks

Tyre reviews for maximum comfort would seem to suggest something like the Nexen CP641, Kuhmo KU31, Hankook Optimo 451 or the Falken ZE912. These are all mid priced tyres the tyre industy has designated Summer tyres in order to get you to buy another set for the winter. All these tyres are biased towards a quiet comfortable ride rather than maximum performance
I had a set of Falken 912's on my previous XJ and had the chance to do a direct comparison with the OE Pirelli P6000 when I swapped a set over with the new car.
Overall the Falkens are quiter and give a slightly smoother ride then the P6000 although to be honest there's not a lot in it. Have to say though I'm a bit disapointed with the ZE912 wear rates - they were pretty close to the wear limt in just 12k of gentle driving when I sold the car whereas I know the P6000s on the new one have done done over 16k and there's plenty of tread left on them.
Have a look at Pneues Online, Black Circles and CT tyres for reviews. Auto Express magazine and Which? did a big tyre review a while ago too.

I've got Khumo's on mine, I used them for years on my old XJ and had no hesitation in putting them on the the X350 when it needed them.
My requirement is for longevity, comfort & quietness and of course price. They fit the bill nicely/

That's exactly what I'd heard - which Kuhmo ones did you choose and what have you compared them with? Gassing Station | Jaguar | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
