Fuel pump wont work ??

Hi there.
Has any one got any ideas about this problem? I tried to start the chim last night but when I bliped the immobiliser as usual with the key in, the fuel pump did not start. I've checked all the fuses in the footwell and the wiring around the pump, and I just had a look at the relays including behind the dash,although I don't really know how to check them.My local auto sparks will have a look in a couple of days ?? but just thought I would have a look at the obvious first.

I assume you tried the 'stick the thingy in the hole' manual method as well just to check it isn't some sort of blipper glitch? Sorry, I'm no sparks but you did ask for the obvious!

Did you hit the garage wall quite hard when you parked it? Could be the inertia switch.

I would try a volt meter across the pump see if you getting power to it. If not its a 85% chance its the relay. The meta alarm internals are normally very good its just the siren thats in a bad place and fills up with water and cr*ps out. My first stop would be the relay.

Have read quite few similar posts on here that turned out to be some sh1t on the fuel pump electrical connections. Inertia switch?

Digital multimeter ca. £4 from most motorfactors.

I would suggest relay as well, most likely the pump relay, but check the main relay. Also, check the inline fuse between the main relay and the fuel pump (that is if the wiring is the same as the V8S, and I think it is).

Cheers, It was the pump relay in the footwell.Just got to go get one now. And then It'll be back to the big again.

Did you check the fuses for cracks ? I had a crack in one of my fuses that visual inspection didn't pick up. Just a thought.

I'd echo testing for power across the fuel pump terminals if you have a meter or nock up a test bulb.

Hello,

Thought I would bounce this to the top, perhaps some one can help me.

Following a flat battery at the weekend, I charged my car and then put everything back into place in the footwell, car started Ok, so went for a drive.

whilst driving, the contents ( ecu, fuses etc) fell out into the footwell. Once I got home I pushed everything back in to place and pushed the cover ( passenger footrest) back into place.

Went to start the car and no fuel pump.....

What I think I may have done, is dislocated the fuel pump relay when putting everything back into place. As I dont have a bible could someone perhaps advise on the best course of action to take.

i.e. how do I identify the fuel pump relay or fuse and then what action can I take ot see if the relay works or failing that the oart number so I can order another.

I also tried to find the inertia switch in case I knocked it by accident when putting everything back, btu couldnt locate it...

IIRC the fuel pump relay has a red cross on the top of it.

Nowhere near car at mo but IIRC the fuel pump and ignition relays are metal cased on mine. The two are close together and flop out on to the floor on the end of the same(?) loom. Inertia switch is above, near the closest thing I have to a glove box, in other words, leather cloth and knicker elastic

Ive now removed and re-inserted the metal relays in case one had become dislodged, however nothing has changed. anyone know which fuse is related tothe fuel pump?

I give up - phoned the RAC, they are coming out tomorrow am........bugger
