The low rev rumbling on the wife's 2005 TD6 FFRR has been diagnosed as an injector problem (not torque convertor or gearbox). One is way out apparently and they say the others aren't working to max performance.
The LR garage say all 6 should be replaced and have quoted 2000euro all in. (each one is 250).

Does this sound right ? I'm reluctant to spend the cash as we want rid of it as we are leaving the country this year and I still have a nagging feeling that it is the gearbox.

Any input appreciated

If you're not happy, take it to another specialist to diagnose (and don't mention what these guys have said).

Is that LR main dealer prices or a specialist?

I'd definitely take it to an independent specilaist if you can, are you in the UK? If so, where?

Sorry, can't help but must be plenty of LR specialists over there!

Ensure they check the wiring harness that feeds the solenoids as I have replaced numerous injectors as the diagnostics say 'faulty injector' when the garage plugs in the computer but have found eventually that it was only a faulty loom that cost £73 to replace + labour.

A lot cheaper than constantly replacing injectors that actually were fine, but diagnostics repeatedly gave as fault.

Took the car elsewhere who reckon it has nothing to do with the injectors as there is no evidence of a misfire and as it only happens at low revs etc he reckons it is more likely the transmission.
He suggests a transmission fluid change and will do it for 120euro which I thought is reasonable
He says there is 5.2litres to put in, does this sound right ?

I had the same problem with mine, a sort of judder when creeping along at slow speed with foot on the brake + slight missfire (and same, or similar fault readout) I put in some good injector cleaner - not the cheap stuff (think it was around £20 a tin). I wasn't very optimistic - but thought I'd give it a go ... Within 2 days the problem had gone, very impressed...
