One of my neighbours is an old chap, the kind of guy who drives the same (dull) car and upgrades to the new model every couple of years. He had a white, ultra-shiney Focus diesel with a 12 plate outside his house the other day, I thought he was upgrading but his 09 diesel Focus turned up on the drive a few days later. I suppose if he had put the money down there and then, he could have had a 12 plate early, nothing to get excited about really imo.

wife bought an ex demo (50 miles) car last year, 11 plate, but it has a feb tax disc?
I think there is or there was some sort of rule where towards the end of a month a dealer can tax a car for a year plus x days. I remember my mum having a Golf like that it was something like a year plus 5 days (don't hold me on the 5 days though, might have been less).I guess in theory the Focus could have been taxed well in advance of the 1st March and it's ended up with not quite a full years tax, assuming what I've said above still happens.
A car taxed in March needs a new disc at the end of February, unless it was registered in the last week, in which case, as said, the disc could be for a year and a week, expiring end March.
The 12 plates can't legally be on the road till 1 March, but it can be delivered on trade plates and parked off road.
