Pace Lights?

One of my colleagues was talking to Mr Scum recently who stated there was a trend of 'Pace lights' being fitted to Chav's cars....

These are flashing strobe lights often seen in the headlights/grills of 'pace cars' at F1 meets..

Any sightings of these things PHs on the public roads...I've not seen 'em yet..

In my laxxer days I had a set fitted in the boot that would illuminate my sub... also a bit of neon lighting to add mood!

But never on the outside..

And most definitely not anymore!!!!

Deltaf...Two years ago..on the roads..really?

I do mega miles per year in marked police cars, unmarked police cars, my private car and motorbike and usually see all sorts of offences on and off duty, but I've never seen pace lights being used....

The scum who mentioned it to my colleague said people used them on motorways as a laugh to clear the traffic in front...

Doesn't it really annoy you if you are off duty and encounter some terrible driving?

I bet you're reaching for the blue lights / siren switches all the time in your personal car.

Lets hope Mr.Scum decides to have "a laugh" soon by using his pace lights on that nice dark blue Volvo. You know, the one with 4 ariels, a black oblong box on the parcel shelf, two rear view mirrors and the nice men in white shirts.
Wonder what he makes of their "light show"???

1) you stand at the bottom of the stairs shouting above the 120dB of rock music booming from kids bedroom "Turn that rubbish down, its too loud!"

alternatively

2) B-i-b look of an age as if they should be in their bedroom doing their geography homework while their Mum gets their tea ready.

Unfortunately PACE lights are these wonderful strobe lights inserted in fog light/indicator/reversing light/head light clusters, just as on this mornings extremely shiny West Mercia unmarked... [colour, model & make withheld ]

If these are the blue strobes behind the front grill, there are loads of cars around Manchester with these. I've seen plenty of cars coming down the outside lane of the motorway with them flashing. Always wondered whether i should report them.. as IMHO i didnt think they were unmarked police cars...

I had some blue ones on a car many years ago. Some chavvy decided to through an egg at the car at a set of traffic lights, then to add insult to injury decided cut me up. In the heat of the moment I decided to scare him a bit 255 bhp vs Nova, with airhorns blasted and lights flashing made him drop his mobile and hopefully fill his trousers with brown stuff

Haven't seen any of these pace lights used on the roads, but it's the pikies with their pick-ups and escort vans and bull bars with the orange lights which pi$$ me off most...

Usually driven minus a shirt and usually without seatbelt too...

Im not suprised theres a lot more about. theres a purple audi quattro out there somewhere with this on..

great for motorways and traffic jams, and outside lane hoggers, and.....

Yeah really streetcop. In fact a colleague from a while back had them installed in his escorts side lights instead of sidelights...the daft sod.

There was a big Holden thingy with them fitted at LM this year, yes he did seem a bit of a twat as well.

Is it technically illegal to have alternating flashing headlights? I know blue lights are out but I can't remember anything from the Highway code about flashing your headlights independently.
