E39 M5 more Brake advice pls
Discussion
I had this for almost the whole year I owned my e39 M5.
When I brought the car I had new discs and pads all round but it wasnt long before I got shudder.
The discs were replaced under warranty because they had warped but it came back.
I had two garages look into this and the only thing I didnt try were the calipers (the suspension was fine, as were all arms etc). I even tried the disc bedding in process a few time but it didnt work. DMWorx said it could have been the components that hold the pads in (cant remember what they were called).
I sold the car before I could try this but it was a right pain in the arse.

If it only happens occasionally it could be just brake pad deposits on the disc causing this.Happened to me, car was in for something else but mechanic informed me that the discs were warped. Said it to my parts supplier and he said its prob just deposits left on disc. He was right, discs weren't warped at all.
One possibility could be the thrust arm bushes, which will look fine and pass the 'bar test', but which are soft enough under heavy loads (braking) to flex and cause vibration.
I had a similar issue with mine when I bought it 3 years ago. The fix was to fit X5 bushes which are more substantial and are a direct replacement.
Plenty of info on m5board on this.

Might seem a very prosaic response but have you checked your wheel nut torque? So many people overlook the fact that if the wheel is not uniformly attached to the hub then it can cause a litany of problems.
If you haven't done it then loosen the nuts, raise the car off the ground and re-tighten.
The recommended torque is 88lb/ft or 120 Nm.

If it was wheel torq of the nuts it would be a constant. This problem now more than likely happens first fast road you get to then goes, then comes back. Never happens on 30 mph roads. Thrust bushes yes they could be....hopefully this week will get it sorted. Hoping that simpson motorsport can have a look....

great to have the car back.....but im still watching it...thanks to all for feedback...
