I have recently bought a private plate for my 1996 Chim. I need to get a rear plate that will let the light which is located behind the number plate'shine through'. This is especially urgent as the MOT is comming up soon. Any suggestions as to the best place to get one....and what exactly do I ask for?

Any help greatfully received.

To be honest, your best bet is probably to go to a TVR dealer. I have no idea of the cost though.

I got mine from TMS Performance in Leicester - the fellow in parts dept is a top man, Barry is his name. He'll know exactly what your talking about and they make a nice job
I can't remember the price about £15 for front and rear.

I had the old old style on mine, black & silver, not supposed to I know but I never got any hassle from the police about them. When it came to the MOT I just said that they were not supposed to have the rear lights on the number plate on TVR's and he took my word for it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I got mine from TMS in Melton Mowbray. About £6 for the plate and about £14 for the backing that spreads the light across the plate. Why the backing is more than double the price of the plate (which includes fitment of lettering), I'll never know. VAT on top.

Can anyone tell what I need to do to change my rear plate set up? I have a 94 Chim with the slanted rear plate and the lights above. Is it easy to change over?

Sorry if I sound completely stupid but I thought I'd ask.

blimechime ... count yourself lucky, mate! ... the backlighting doesn't work at the best of times ... last year I only passed the MOT becoz I opened up the boot to show the inspector that there were bulbs behind the plate ... the fact that next to no light comes through was neither here no there, apparently
