Could someone tell me if my 996 should have one or two rear fog lights? At the moment I have one on the drivers side only but I'm not sure if I should in fact have two, one on each side.

MOT coming up hence checking!

Yes, just the offside as standard on UK cars.

The bulb holder and associated wiring in the light cluster is there for the near side one but no wiring to it. I had mine wired up via a feed from the offside unit.

I like symmetry, but I ignore tyre tread patterns biggrin

I was driving behind my friend who was in my gt3 in front of me in fog with the fog light on, I actually thought it was a fault but on checking found Porsche only wire up one light.

I wonder why, can't be cost.

I think it's to distinguish them from brake lights....I.e. so you don't look up and think the car is hitting the brakes.

Having just one fog light on the off-side helps others to be able to see the brake lights come on

I thought it was just so you could recognise the tw$ts quicker who put them on when they haven't bothered to demist their windscreens, or when the car is front is still on cold start, or when they open their flask of coffee in the morning and steam up their glasses, or when the sun is out and blinding them so they don't know if fog is around, or in case fog might suddenly leap out 5 miles up the road....banghead

Have one on the school run that insists on having fog lights on all the time banghead
