Somewhere on here there's an article about this.
In summary the thinking is that very seldom do discs warp and that it's most likely a build up of pad residue which skimming will resolve.
Anyway if you so a search on all forums on warped discs you'll probably turn said article up...

sound like what mines doing too.
I spoke to jools about it and he said
"common thing, most likely inconsistent pad build up ont eh disc face, remove
discs and clean faces of discs with 800grit wet and dry paper and brake
cleaner solvent until they are spotlessly clean, then flat pad faces off
with 40 grit paper. then refit and bed brakes in again (6 stops from 30 mph
increasing to 80 mph progressively braking harder but never coming to a
completet stop in between .. u'll need a long road with no cars on it to do
this .. don't do it in traffic!!!"
This cured my problem proving its not a disc warped but shit building up on them.
However driving round town all the time with light brake application the problem comes back. But I have found that if you get a clear stretch of road and get some speed up (within the law of course) and then stand on the brakes real hard. This seems to shift all the crap and they are ok again.

Some brake price info on the FAQ's

If you get any new prices or types add it to that thread

I agree with the beding in/cleanig of the the brakes on the road as advised by Jools except I did not clean the pads or discs. I did it to my wifes run around and my S4 and the improvement was noticable in the braking power. If nothing else you will get to Know / feel and the power of your brakes at maximum if ever needed

Just out of interest. How much do people pay for front brake pads and what do they go for? I've heard Mintex 1144's are the ones to go for.
I would like to know an answer to this one too. Anyone?
I had the new compound Green Stuff pads fitted and haven't had any cause for complaint.

1144s are not bad. DS2000 are better. Use them on the Wedge and on slicks we are getting about 1.2G under braking with no fade in competition. Seem to be very kind to discs as well.
Excuse my ignorance, I know 1144s are Mintex, but what are DS2000, where and how much? Or Green Stuff for that matter?

Green (or red) stuff from here

They have a controversial reputation though
The new compound is supposed to be a lot better but only time will tell.trooper1212 said:

If by that, some us won't be seen dead with the nasty things, I agree!
The problem is that they say they have a new compound which is better but they also claimed similar things the last time round. Disc friendly is one that comes to mind. Not in my experience it wasn't.
The problem is I want my brakes to work. I compete in the car and need them to work reliably first time. Given that there are manufacturers like Mintex and Ferodo that have been consistently good over the years... would you change?
