Ask to see a DME report, that shows over revs and a load of other stuff, operating hours , can't remember what else off hand.
If it's from an OPC it'll come with a 2 yr warranty so you should be pretty well protected against big stuff but bear in mind the issues someone else on this forum has had recently 4 months into ownership having bought from OPC.
I'd ask them if it has ever had any paint correction, accidents , all the usual stuff, depends on where you're buying it from really. The better indies IMO would not risk their reputation selling on something with "issues" and would probably be more inclined to put things right than an OPC in my experience.

The DME report is only relevant on a manual gearbox car.
WRONGAnd it isn't called a DME report.
Just ask what rev ranges the car has been in and they should have a print out ready.

Eh? Please can you explain how it's possible to mechanically over-rev a car where the transmission electronic controls prevent too high a gear from being engaged?
Ask your OPC why, their response could be quite comical.
I have witnessed 997 tips that have been in rev range 6 and needed engine rebuilds.
You're just going to have to take my word for it, just because it's a tip does not mean it doesn't score bores.

Silly me, I though bore wear was something to do with over heating and oil starvation and I would be really interested to know how you get a tip to over rev?
I tried everything but never managed.Pugley said:
This is an exciting new discovery - Tips that can go into over rev ranges and cause the bores to score? Shock horror - are the 2 related.

What the hell are you talking about..?

I tried everything but never managed.Kurt, I think you may be confusing two different issues. Scored bores - typically pot six- are a known issue and thought to be due to cooling issues, not related to missed gear changes ( about the only cause of a level 6 over rev, unless accelerating hard down a very steep hill!) And I would be sceptical that you can get such an over rev in a PDK car (GTS is PDK or manual, not tiptronic). Or a tiptronic for that matter. Never say never of course ...
