Are you sure they're fog lights and not driving lights ?
Deffo fog lights because the rear lights are switched on in the evenings as they zoom past me in the overtaking lanes of the m5/m6/m40/m42 which ever one i happen to be travelling on the way back from working at customers premises

I think you're confusing driving lights with DRLs.
Although driving lights are very rare these days the rear lights would also be on.

Agree with the above but haven't DRLs just essentially legalised this!?
I think drls have caused the increase in others thinking having extra lights on the front of their car is 'cool'.I sometimes feel like flicking the full beam on or, if they're behind me, put my rear fog on but just ignore it instead.
Do people just moan about them online and call people who do this obscene names just because it is a cool thing to do?
Reason I say this is considering that 50% of the cars I see on the road have DRL's, I can't see how they are any different. They certainly don't effect me.
While I never use my fog lights, as I see it as a pointless thing to do. Nonetheless I do not see how you people can get so riled up over it. People driving with full beams, yeah, huge w
kers. Foglights? Doesn't effect me, couldn't care less.
