Hi all. Need some urgent help please.

Was at Bedford today and my front brake pads have worn down to indicator light on. Starting to hear that gritty sound on way home. Can see about 2mm left on front right and a bit more on front left. Have another track day booked/paid for Monday including time off work.

I have no idea how to change or where. Or if id need to do front and rear at same time? I'd normally goto a dealer but I need to change on Sunday. Also I'm think of potentially getting less fade by upgrading the front pads.

Does anyone know a place near north London open Sunday or on the way to Bedford Aerodrome if only open Monday?

TIA

Halfords, get a haynes manual and some brake pads.

I've never done before although watched mechanics. I could figure out perhaps but I'm staying in London away from home and have no garage/tools. Also will Halfords sell pads for an R8? Will I need a special pad? There is a Halfords close.

R8... maybe, there's a chance it's a common pad size.
If you get to the trackday early, and bung a few quid at the guys there, I bet someone will change it for you if you can get the pads.

Thanks. That's not a bad suggestion. It could work. Do you have any idea how I would know what's compatible for this car? I'm not gonna trust a teenager in Halfords. Is there are spec for pad sizes like tyres? Eg 235/35/19 etc.

The pads aren't that common from a quick check, Lambo Gallardo, the R8, but on the plus side, the RS6 too.

That will probably be the stuff you need.

Right. Great. RS6 shouldn't be too hard to find. Most grateful for the links. Thanks.

Halfords didn't list RS6, but the Wembley branch of ECP is open tomorrow, and I believe it is one of the bigger stores.
