997.2 Tyre choices
Discussion
The Contis certainly get consistently good reviews. My boxster came with a set, the rears being half worn when I got the car, but I decided to go for Michelin PS 2s while Costco had their 20% offer, largely because I've been really impressed by every set of michelins I've had on previous cars. An evo tyre test a few years ago found PS2s to be not quite as good as others in the wet, but my car doesn't venture out much in the wet, so I was more interested in their performance in the dry.
Michelin PS2s are the quietest of the N rated and frankly they're the best performing in a range of conditions, particularly British conditions, ie wet! IMO of course.
Word has it that the new Michelin PSSs are even better performing, quieter and more comfortable but they don't come N-rated yet, though there was a lot of development work done with Porsche and a number of late 997s appeared at the PEC Silverstone shod in them.
My car is under manufacturer's (not extended) warranty so I'm going to swap into some non N rated PSSs to try them out while I still can without invalidating warranty. Anyone else given these a try?
