Does anyone know the source vehicle for the handbrake assembly? The button on mine seems to be sticking in and I can't suss out how to fix it without a full replacement.

mine did this after an mot brake test, where the hand brake is pulled on hard whilst moving, it bent the mechanism slightly towards driver , after a tweak back to the left, all sorted. Think the cable was rubbing on the pulley

Hi

Just before you replace it, most of them stick. The cause is a normally a little edge on the button, or a build up of dirt. Try giving it a good clean, might even need to take it apart, then a little silicon spray and the button should work. It is due to them using a standard handbrake and then fitting their own handle to it. Just a thought.

Neill, I've given it a bit of a clean, but without removing, as I was nervous of the cable disappearing from sight, maybe I'll have to man up a bit and just go for it. I just looked at you profile pic, do those individual air filters add anything to the power or noise?

The filters were on there when I bought it and I haven't got around to removing them yet. They make a nice sound under throttle but they could do with some 75mm trumpets to get the most from them. It is on the list to do, as is a new airbox.

I am sure the cover comes off without having to remove the cable or anything else, can't remember off the top of my head but there is a grub screw I think. The polished aluminium bit is just a cover.

^^^What Neil said.

2 off 2mm allen grub screws at the base of polished ally grip. Usually covered by handbrake gaiter - but this will just pull back. Grub screws just need to be slackened, rather than removed completely, and the grip will just slide off to the front.

I've had it apart as far as removing the mounting bolts with the grip and button removed. There's definitely something wrong down at the ratchet end as it sticks with the button removed. I think i'm going to order a new one and then refurb the original then punt it on, but that's for next month. Any advice on handbrake replacement gladly recieved.
