.. Of sand has just secured some Saab loveliness,

Year 2000 Saab 9-5 2.0 SE

It's the low pressure jobbie so only 150BHP but with only 1 owner the last 8 years, 110K and full Saab history I thought it was worth a punt. I can only fault the alloys which good do with a repaint but otherwise the condition is brilliant, way way better than my LS400.

I'm going to run this for a month or two and decide to keep or offload. Keep? Sell? Shift the Lexus? decisions etc but for 500 notes I think I've done pretty good.

I had a 9-3 with that engine and it was a flyer, enough to upset a Cooper S and a CTR, I think they are nearer to 175 bhp.

More like 185 and 197bhp and lighter kerb weight than the Saab, so unless you had modified your car, it's more likely that they didn't know you were racing them wink

Makes spending £8000 on some crappy 1.0 litre new eurobox seem even more ridiculous

I'll get some more comprehensive pics through the week but it shows that some bargains do exist out there. I didn't buy the car with any performance aspirations in mind cos it ain't that in any way. Just a well loved car for little wedge.

It does put spending 20 times the amount for a new small car into perspective though.

500 notes for that is very, very, very good.

You robbed the poor sod selling it, but fair play it looks a great car.

You should be very pleased with that effort!
Coming from the Bargain-meister himself, I think that's a compliment smile

Drop the sump and clean it out, that particular variant of the breed has problems with oil sludging.

Loved my 9-5!

Well if those crazy people didnt buy brand new you wouldnt have anything to claim as being "crazy" in 10-15 years time when said new motor gets in to the shed bracket.

Great car for the money. My dad has one of these and its one of the most comfortable cars around. They look like they are worth so much more.

Officially the car is mine now, picked it up a couple of hours ago.

Very impressed in an understatement. Deffo a keeper for the forseeable. I keep looking at the receipt with a smug grin smile

Full update and pics at the weekend.
