Went to the garage to awaken the beast and one headlight was up about three quaters of the way, battery so flat I had to replace.

Investigations so far
Blown fuse on right headlamp
Check all connections manually and with ohm setting on meter.
Checked power feed. Have power to two wires, one on main 3 pin plug and one on single wire, but no go
Motor moves ok manually
Swapped relays, no change.
Fitted new fuse which blew again immediately.

On this basis I suspect dodgy motor. Any other ideas would be greatfully received.

Thanks in advance............

Wind down the head light. Check all connections. Check the lift relays x 2. Finally check the control diode in the fuse panel

Headlamp wound down, connections checked, relays swapped and left still works ok, but there vare two diodes on the fuse panel. I can only see one on the wiring diagram and the fusebox diagram. Any idea which one is the right one, or just check both

Thanks for the info

Check them both with a good multimeter, probably the reason why the fuse fired

Thanks for that. Electrics are like a dark art to me. Not a clue. Simple stuff no problem, but switching, relays and diodes!!! Now mechanical stuff and I'm in heaven

Diodes? Think of them as a funnel: 'current' can flow down a funnel easily one way but hardly at all the other (in fact the electrical symbol does resemble a funnel).

Relays are easy enough, once you see one working with the cover off...

In case it helps.

A relay is just a remote switch, capable of handling a lot of current (i.e. headlights).
Some are just on/off switches and some are changeover types (in->'A out' or in->'B out').

A diode is a one-way street for electricity, it allows flow only one way.

A diode allows the main beams to be on and voltage&current to operate the 'UP' pod relay,
without that voltage also lighting up the dip beam cicuit, and vice versa.

Ok. Thanks for all the info. Here's the latest.

Relays ok
Diode on fusebox ok
Fuse only blows when motor connected up
So motor removed. Use info on this link:- http://www.wedgeneering.co.uk/TVR%20390SE%20p6.htm

Result was both diodes ok, continuity through switches ok and switches clean and no corrosion.
Only suspect is motor is open circuit as black/green and red/green have continuity.

Concluded motor u/s

Correct or total rubbish??

I had a similar problem and it turn out to be a relay.
I had fitted a new set of five pin relays. But the one for one of the lights was incorrect (Cheap set of f-bay) it just blew the fuse as the switching in the relay put the power strait to earth.
So double check the relays!

Hi Andy, thanks for the reply

I have swapped the relays over and there was no change. The right headlight still didn't raise. None of the relays is new. The fuse doesn't blow till the headlamp motor is connected, so I assume that the motor is the culprit somehow?

Hope you're on the mend ok

or has someone out there in Wedge Land got one for some beer tokens that they know is a good'un?

Thanks in advance

Hi Colin.
Robsport said that the block may need changing on mine which is also 3 terminals in a line and not round. Very helpful guy. Thanks for message.
