Just got an Apple TV
Discussion
...and I love it! Already streamed movies via iTunes on the Mac, and done it with music videos on the iPad, and just worked out how to do full mirroring on the iPhone 4S, which is very important to me now, as it means I can watch the NASCAR on the TV itself, complete with sound (would've killed for it when I was watching the season finale at the end of last year, made do with watching it on the Mac back then, but let's face it, a 32" HDTV beats the 13" Mac screen any day. Only thing I'm disappointed with is the AirPlay mirroring not being compatible with iPad 1 (didnt see the point of upgrading to iPad 2, will consider the 3 if/when it launches) but the jtv app works on the phone as well, so I get to actually watch NASCAR on my TV without giving Sky and money at all. Just one quick question before I go; the movies, tv shows etc I already have downloaded on iTunes; is it possible to watch them from the ATV2 without having to use AirPlay with the Mac running iTunes or the iPad/iPhone?
I have a US iTunes account, but have you tried changing your region to the US? This should give you an option under tv shows to view purchased shows via the cloud.
PS, you shouldn't need AirPlay between the apple tv and the computer running iTunes. Use home sharing.

Cheers, I'll get that set up ASAP. Haven't set up any of the iCloud stuff just yet, only thing I do haveon that is the Find My iPhone app, which has come in handy. Just setting up home sharing now, but thankfully I've worked out that the Justin.tv app will support AirPlay even on my iPad 1, as it was designed as an iPhone app. Which means HD quality NASCAR without paying God only knows how much to Sky!PS, you shouldn't need AirPlay between the apple tv and the computer running iTunes. You don't need cloud stuff... It should just be in the purchased option on apple TV. Most of the video apps support AirPlay, and most music/sound stuff works via AirPlay too. TheHeretic said:

Okedoke will check that out now, just a thought as well; I'm using an AirPort express as a router (have no need for the extra features of extreme or time capsule) and obviously when I go to AirPlay it gives me the option to select Apple TV or AirPort Express. Would it be possible to have video going to the TV, but audio to the AirPort and connect that to a surround sound? If so the only way I'm going to better watching NASCAR is hopping on a plane and heading over to the US! (I do realise I can just put the surround sound straight onto the TV but that would be boring!)Gassing Station | Video Games | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
