Dragged the s out this morning , she's not had a lot of use over winter so fired her up, nightmare. Stalled at a junction wouldn't start eventually did then oil pressure was zero on idle ok under revs oil leval is good any ideas ?

Do you have an oil pressure warning lamp too? (And does it work?)

If so, and if that isn't coming on, it could be a sender/wiring fault.

Otherwise, low pressure at idle that improves with revs could be a worn engine, worn oil pump or sticking oil pressure relief valve. If it came on suddenly I'd look at the relief valve first. But be cautious about running the engine while you're investigating - if you really do have very low oil pressure at idle, you could damage the engine if you leave it running.

I had similar problems a couple of months ago, no pressure at tickover and about 35 psi on revs, I was convinced it was the oil pump but it turned out to be the sender. Get it checked on a manual gauge then you will know straight away, most garages should have if you can't borrow one.

Edited to add, Thinking about it a bit more I wonder if the 2 problems are related, ie. faulty connection somewhere, yellow connector?? bad earth?

Yes thanks for your comments ,before winter oil pressure was very good it seems to go erratic when the engine gets warm. It has to go for mot soon so I may ask the garage to have a look too.

Nice to see the oil pressure at 3300rpm is Zero, mine has never dropped below that!
