Megane Back Box

Hi all.

Looking at getting a new back box for my megane (1999 Megane Sport Coupe 1.6 16V). Just looking for some recommendations as I have bugger all idea about exhaust system brands etc, but basically what I want is:

- Couple of BHP increase
- Look good (Not too bloody big)
- Sound 'throaty' but not too loud, just sort of sound good when you give it some welly.
- MOT pass, can't be bothered to change it every year to pass an MOT.

Looking at spending maybe at maximum 70 quid, so unless its used sniper etc is out I'm afraid.

Any suggestions appreciated!

Save your money. Backboxes will do very little to increase power (you need a full system for that really), won't sound throaty (again, you need a full system for that) and a £70 one will likely be not very well made and won't last long. £70 is more than 10% of the way to an MX-5.

Yeah I'm not expecting much really, but I'm on a tight budget as I'm not planning on keeping the car for a huge length of time.

Was looking at the cherry bomb, any opinions on these?

If you want a Section 59, it's a great idea. If you're not keeping it for a long time why bother? Put it into the fund for something better.

Haha, the impression I got is that they're not particularly loud?

Well I'm keeping the car for a couple of years so it's worth doing a bit to it, but nothing too expensive/excessive.
