Well, the time has come to get the winter wheels off the car, but the tyres on my summer wheels need replacing. In the past I've used mytyres and blackcircles - but, this time, I would rather use a good, local, independant. So I am looking for some recommendations please - good work is first and foremost, good prices would help too smile.

I live in Altrincham, but work in Bury, so anywhere around Manchester would be OK.

Many thanks

I've used Dave Sheldon a couple of times. Seems to get decent reviews on here

+1, good lads at Dave Sheldon, never had any problems with them.

ETA, http://www.biginrubber.co.uk/ , either mobile or depot is in Sale Moor, prices are always good.

I used Event tyres (based in Manchester) after my order with MyTyres turned into a disaster and despite a slight cock up on their part with the booking date, the service was very good.

Radcliffe Tyre Centre, Radcliffe Moor Road, Radcliffe (opposite the Sparking Clog pub) -

http://maps.google.co.uk/maps?f=q&source=s_q&a...

shows them with telephone number etc on google maps. The owner is Italian and thoroughly decent, and he's always done me proud and gone the extra mile - including taking tyres off alloys and sealing the rims overnight (so the paint could dry) - for reasonable sums, but there can be a wait at the busiest times.

He also used to have the tyre repair/replace contract with Bury Council's vehicle fleet managers until councillors decreed that a "tyre card" with a UK-wide tyre repair/replace service was the way to go rolleyes - this is how many of us from that workplace at that time got to know of the place, and we still frequent the establishment several years later.

It also depends where in Bury you work as to how easily you can get to him - but the A666 is only 10 minutes' drive west of here so the M60 is easy to get to as well smile .

He's good.
