2ZZ 6-speed gearbox?

How hard/expensive is it to source this? Looking at a car who has the 6-speed but there are some sc.raping sounds on downshifts while breaking, and he has no idea how to fix it and reckons it needs a new gearbox.

Clutch release bearing is noisy on the 2zz gearbox but doesn't lead to failure from what I've read.

My gearbox was a lot better after an oil change.

Engine was available in the corolla, celica and elise models in europe.

On my Corolla T Sport, the 6th is useless*, so maybe there's a perfectly usable 5-speed you could source more easily?

* some people rebuild and swap the 6th cog to some Avensis cog for a more relaxed cruise, ISTR.
