I've started to notice that now and then - usually after not using the car for a few days, I'll push the button under the mirror, and it'll sound as if the solenoid is opening the door, but it wont pop out.

I did a bit of investigation ( lifting the carpet, sitting insude, opening it from the button through the window) and it looks as if the solenoid just isn't pushing down hard enough enough every now and again. As if it's first attempt is weak, and when you push the button the secon time, it's a stronger push (enough to undo the metal latch).

Is there anything in there that may need greased up?
Cables / Solenoid itself?

Is there any adjustments I can make etc?

Cheers,

Might be worth changing the solenoid before it fails - look here for a guide and parts list - cheap as chips from maplins http://www.chimaerapages.com/resources_solenoid.ph...

I had this problem for a while on the drivers side (but I was also getting funny noises from the solenoid). When it finally failed it took out the central locking relay which then fused the passenger side solenoid. So I ended up replacing the whole lot.

Luckily the relay was only £11 and the solenoids not much more and it only took about an hour to replace them (and I am not handy with the spanners!).
