Infiniti Emerg-E concept images hit the web

Yet another online leak - this time it's from Infiniti

These are the first complete images of the Infiniti Emerg-E concept, the range-extender coupe that's set to be unveiled at the Geneva motor show.

But although Infiniti admits that these are the official images of the mid-engined concept (Infiniti's first attempt at a mid-engined car), we still can't tell you any more about the car's spec or innards than we could when the patent drawings for the new car were leaked a couple of weeks back.

Still, we'll be able to tell you all about the slinky coupe concept nearer the Geneva show.

and why it has the Nürburgring (Nordschleife) on the sat nav screen is rich !!! unless its the SRT 8.4l Viper it should stay away before it has its pants pulled down by a GT3 RS

The overall shape is quite nice, though I don't like the intake on the rear wing that almost goes down to the wheel arch, looks like an open wound.

You've driven it? Impressive.

PS, Infiniti is to Nissan, what Lexus is to Toyota.

This and the Jag came out of REEVolution, as did the evora 414e from 2010. As Jag/lotus/nissan were the three main parts of the same consortium, I wouldn't be surprised if they were all mildly different versions of the same car..

I suspect that if Infiniti put that into production, with the GT-R's engine, but RWD, they'd have a winner. A competitor to the R8.

I also suspect that they'll never actually put it into production.

Infiniti still play 2nd fiddle to Lexus in the US and they have no brand presence at all in the rest of the world. I doubt they have the brand cachet to sell a six-figure supercar just yet. Maybe in a few more years, but not now. A shame.

No, but they still sell their cars elsewhere, just under the Nissan brand, rather than Infiniti. This is why you can find Skyline 350GT's, and 370GT's in the classifieds, etc.

Ditto, must admit I looked at quite a few in the Middle East, and actually like them

yes Infiniti G35/37 owners in the 'States like to put the JDM Skyline 350/370GT badges on their cars. I can't see this being badged as a Nissan, though, since they already have the GT-R.

Any more info on the potential development tie-up with Red Bull F1 for this car that's banded about at the moment?

Founded? Not really. They were introduced by Nissan. The cars were essentially rebadged nissans from the Japanese and European markets, such as the Primera, and the President. But no, they are an All-American brand. I'll keep quiet, after all, what would an ex-owner know.

Yes the brand was founded in the US, completely correct but they are still what Lexus is to Toyota. A new badge, a new image for a new market. You probably have no idea what I am talking about but I am adding for the benefit of those intelligent enough to understand.
